Teacher's aide at Gratts Learning Academy accused of child molestation

I have posted the first article on this child predator on the second page so readers could see both articles. The has also been a correction in the age of this predator he is 26 not 21. I really hope that as more research is done into how to create tools that education systems can use to try to weed out those who are at risk of sexually abusing children. This is an epidemic in this country and world for that matter. If we had better ways to determine who is at risk the safer our children would be. Of course this wouldn't stop children from being sexually abused because most children are abused by family, close friends or acquaintances. Which is an even a bigger epidemic and puts a lot of children at risk every day. Rosie

Case of accused teacher's aide expands to second school

Jorge Luis DominguezThe investigation of a teacher’s aide arrested Thursday on suspicion of committing lewd acts on a child has expanded to a second Los Angeles school. Officials have confirmed that Jorge Luis Dominguez, 26, worked at a second school as a coach in an after-school program.
Los Angeles police detectives took Dominguez into custody before 5 a.m., alerting school administrators about the same time. Police said Dominguez has worked as a six-hour-a-day teacher’s aide at Gratts Learning Academy, an elementary school, since 2007. Three years before that, he’d started work in an after-school program at Gratts, west of downtown.
But a second school has also been drawn into the probe. About two years ago, the nonprofit Youth Policy Institute hired Dominguez as a coach for its after-school program at the Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise, a nearby charter school.
Parent meetings have been scheduled for Friday at Gratts and at the charter school, which is independently operated but authorized by the L.A. Unified School District.
An L.A. Unified spokeswoman said it’s her understanding that the alleged victim is not a student at Gratts.
YPI also said it believed the victim was not a student in its program at the charter. YPI runs free, grant-funded, after-school programs at 56 campuses. News of the investigation marred a celebratory evening for YPI, which was holding its annual fundraising gala Thursday night.
In a statement, L.A. schools Supt. John Deasy called the charges "horrifying and sickening."
He added: "We learned of these accusations and [Dominguez's] arrest this morning, and are cooperating with the Los Angeles Police Department in this ongoing investigation.”

He was booked on suspicion of lewd acts with a child. He was detained in the 1200 block of Miramar Street and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
[For the Record, 3:40 p.m., May 17: The Times initially identified the school as Gratts Learning Academy based on police statements, but corrected the name to Gratts Elementary School after LAUSD provided different information. The district now acknowledges that the correct name of the campus is the Gratts Learning Academy. The post also stated that Dominguez was employed as an after-school worker, but LAUSD now states that he does not currently work in that capacity.]
[For the Record, 10:51 a.m., May 18: Earlier versions of this post said Domiguez is 21 years old. He is 26.]
