This week in Canada a new web site is up and running that helps to identify pedophiles in peoples neighborhoods. stoppedophiles.ca It is run by the Canada Family Action. If you follow the link at the end of this blog post it will take you to the comments section of the National Post on-line paper. It was interesting to read the comments. They are mostly by those who are against the sex offender registry. They say things like this is a bad thing. The person has already served their time and they and their family end up with a life sentence being on the registry. I have to laugh, yes I said laugh. These are pedophile sexual abusers who have harmed children. And they and their families are acting like what they did is no big deal. When a child gets sexually abused they end up with a life sentence. A life sentence they had nothing to do with except be the victim of a predator. Something they will struggle against their whole lives.
I do believe there are some young adults who are on the registry for consensual sexual relationships with a minor. Like a 16 year old who has a sexual relationship with a 14 or 15 year old. Not a 16 year old who had a sexual relationship with a 10 or an 11 year old. That would qualify them being a pedophile. I am really upset that those who support doing away with the registry accept money from pedophiles. There is one such site who has a prominent pedophile sexual abuser as one of its sponsors. How they justify taking money and supporting adults who harm children is beyond me. I can only say I have a clear conscience when my head hits the pillow at night. Do they? Rosie

CALGARY — A Christian advocacy group launched a website Friday
that identifies convicted pedophiles, but a civil liberties association
said it has concerns about vigilantism and people being falsely accused.
Canada Family Action, a Calgary-based organization, launched
stoppedophiles.ca — the name was originally to be findapedophile.com —
and claims to identify people who have been convicted of sexual
assaults.
It is searchable by province and includes information of people the
site says were previously convicted. Many profiles include photographs.
Most information appears to be gathered from news sites.
Despite threats of lawsuits, the group went ahead with the launch.
In Canada, the national sex offender registry is only available to law enforcement agencies.
The Rocky Mountain Civil Liberties Association said there are
concerns with the site, but Calgary police Supt. Sat Parhar does not see
any issues with it.
