If he didn't abuse any children in his care and if all of the images and videos of child sexual abuse media he had on his computer, were from the internet. Then where are the children from, that he made indecent photographs of? Doesn't make sense to me I am thinking this investigation isn't over. It is do disheartening the access to children that most pedophiles have and the lack of tools that can be used to determine if someone is at risk of being a sexual offender of children. Most of the tools available are used AFTER the person/pedophile has offended. I don't understand why their aren't tools, beside background checks (which are important) to help schools, youth programs, etc. determine if the person they are hiring to work or volunteer is at risk of harming children. Most pedophiles who get caught are first time offenders, which means even with a background check nothing would show up. Nothing shows up before they offend, just after they offend. I have said before in earlier posts that if there was a tool; even for volunteers that IMO pedophiles working with children would decrease because they wouldn't want to fill out the tool as it would expose them for being a likely pedophile. The research I am doing on-going on pedophiles, is that they don't want to be outed. They fear this because then their persona is blown. Mostly because they don't want to deal with the repercussions that would happen if they were found out. As far as I can see their aren't any deterrents in place that protects children from offenders before they get arrested for offending. Not very logical to me. Rosie

Martin Rutland was caught with the vile pictures and movies when police raided his home in Middlesbrough following an investigation by officers in Gloucestershire.
Rutland appeared in court yesterday and indicated guilty pleas to serious charges dating from between 2005 and December last year, when he was arrested by Cleveland Police.
Rutland – who was registered with Ofsted as a childminder, along with his wife – was given bail by justices until his next appearance at court.
It is understood his wife was unaware of his collection of filth downloaded from the internet, and no children have been cared for at their home since his arrest.
Rutland appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court yesterday and spoke only to confirm his name, enter his plea and tell the justices he was now homeless.
Wearing a smart dark suit, white shirt and black tie, balding and bespectacled Rutland replied “no fixed abode” when he was asked what his address was.
He admitted 14 charges of making indecent photographs of children, one of possessing images and movies, and four of possessing extreme pornography.
The court heard that 6,824 pictures and film clips involving children were found on computer equipment, and a further 2,601 showing animals were discovered.
The investigation by Gloucestershire Police into the use of websites led to officers going to Rutland’s home in Roman Road, Middlesbrough, on December 5, last year.
Bail conditions imposed by the bench prohibit Rutland from having unsupervised contact with under-18s and living and sleeping at his former address.
A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “The defendant was a registered childminder with Ofsted which is responsible for carrying out any checks that may be required and for checking that childminders comply with registration requirements.
“Cleveland Police found in their investigation that there was no evidence the images seized related to activity in the address. All are confirmed to have been from the internet.
“Middlesbrough Council’s social workers have worked alongside Cleveland Police and other services to offer support and guidance to parents.”

This man has now been released on bail. He is living with his mother around the corner from me,his kids go to the same school as mine...how can someone so vile be allowed to walk free...he has lost his wife, kids, job....what worries me is how do we know what he will do next? What has he got to lose? Its the easter holidays and now I feel unable to allow my kids to play outside freely knowing he is living so closely.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you have to deal with this. It's hard enough raising kids without worrying that a neighbor is a known pedophile. I don't know why laws aren't tougher. Or why their aren't programs that these predators can be sent to when they are caught. It's sad that his mother is supporting him. I am sorry for his wife and kids as well. That will be a hard pill to swallow knowing your father/husband is a pedophile. I agree with you that he is in a situation where what does he have to lose? That makes it very scary. I hope you have a neighborhood watch program so all the neighbors can watch out for each other. I hope his mother doesn't have a computer. If so he will be right back doing what he was. Are the police doing extra patrols in your neighborhood? Have they done any education with the neighbors? I hope despite this vile person being so close that you are able to have a good Easter. I feel so sorry for his children, especially as its been in the press as school can be cruel at the best of times but feel those kids will now suffer at school because of the actions of their father. How many lives have been destroyed ?? The wife, children, victims, the countless children they have childminded over the years. It beggars belief!
You are most welcome. I am so surprised the police and local watch have done nothing. Sometimes it just amazes me the complacency there is about this subject. I can't imagine what his children are going through. I agree with you that children at school will tease and pick on them because of this. They will suffer for something that wasn't of their own making. This creates despair and I hope their mother is connecting them to good services. I hope she is getting good services as well. ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for explaining that. It makes sense. I hope he isn't a threat to real children. So far there are no accusations of him harming children in his care. Which is a good thing. I hope he corporates with the authorities and gives them the information on where he got his abuse images. Helping find the children whose abuse images these are will be good to help find, protect and help them. Again, thanks for stopping by and explaining what "making an image" means. Rosie
It sickens me to think that my family are victims to this predator. It also makes me ill to think that this family were highly recommended to me as childminders and were heavily involved in supporting the school that my children attend and they have just totally abused the trust that we put into them to look after the most precious things in my life (my children). I am not a money orientated person but the fact that this family have taken my hard earned cash is just one element of this sickening betrail. I hope to god justice is done to him but someone I have no faith in this justice sustem and truely believe he will be left to reoffend.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you were victimized. It is terrible that this predator took such advantage of you and your family. I can't imagine what you are going through. It sounds like the school your children attended had no idea either. I bet they feel pretty awful as well. Have they set up any type of counseling for the families and the children? I would hope so because this is such a violation of trust that it will affect every aspect of your life. I hope that justice is done as well. I will continue to follow the story. These three points to show results as a scale from None to Constant or regular.
And very aptly, a psycho analyst/cognitive test to show demeanour and behaviour when shown images of children, and also a multi choice questionnaire in which say 40 questions of scenarios randomly computer selected from 200 questions or so, to determine how the person would deal correctly or not (revealing moral values,respect and etiquette)with the child.
Of course these fail or pass tests (of which the percentage needs to be shown on the OFSTEAD report for the person and not the premises) need to be rigorous and thorough for the sake of being pro active and to test the demeanour before an offence is committed - I think it is fair, as we need to do as much as we can to protect our children, and i do not think that this is too much, even to go so far as to suggest this test needs to be done every year or two.
I shall propose this to my local MP for government, and also set up a Facebook page within the next 7days to campaign. Watch this space.

When I have shared my idea with those in my life they share concerns that there will be innocent people who will get labeled a child sex offender that isn't. So I understand that this is a controversial topic, but there honestly does need to be some precautions put in place prior to someone working with children. In the US the State of Mass. has a great system called the CORI law. Even with this system there are several stories this year of adults working with children who passed their rigorous system.
