Learning about editing

I knew when I started to write my memoir I didn't have any experience as a professional writer. I realized this evening that while I had written my memoir I had not created any chapters. I just wrote it without breaking it up into cohesive chapters. I also learned that I need to get an editor or some good editing software. Nothing I know anything about but I am sure I will learn a lot about. I think it may be imperative for me to take a class or two on this. Now that I have everything written down I just need to focus on creating chapters and getting it edited. One of the things that I had learned when I was writing papers to get my degrees was that it may take several times to get the paper correct. Getting this book edited shouldn't be any different then that. I wish I had more experience in writing books but you have to start somewhere. I am hoping that after I go through this process of writings, editing and getting the memoir published I can go on and write more books. I am planning on starting a company as part of marketing the memoir when it is published.
I plan on being a professional speaker on the topic of multiple traumas. I will start attending professional workshops dealing with trauma. I won't limit it just to the RA because I have also experienced; sexual, emotional, spiritual and physical child abuse and I am also a survivor of domestic violence. I will be spending my time getting to know specialists in these fields. This is all knew to me I currently specialize in aging and disabilities. There are traumas in this client population and I provide services to help the people to gain skills to be independent. As part of this I am part of a treatment team that works with specialists who are helping the client with traumas they may be trying to overcome. I help to break down barriers for people with disabilities.

The thing about surviving trauma is that trauma is a barrier to many facets of a persons life. I will find it an honor to be part of helping people to overcome traumas. It will be an honor to work with mental health professionals teaching them what it is like to suffer trauma, but more importantly teach them what I have done in my life that has put me in a position to help them help others. Have a blessed evening, Rosie
