Mother groomed children for abuse

This story just made me use language that I can not post to this blog. This disgusting so called mother filmed her children dressing for her pedophile boyfriend. The only reason she was caught is that he had done something that warranted his computer being seized. She had the audacity to write a story about this. The judge for this trial said:

“You utterly failed to protect your children by positively joining in their grooming. Your desire to satisfy (your boyfriend’s) sexual interests overrided your maternal instincts.”

Another predator mother who had the well being of her children take a back seat to her pedophile boyfriend's needs. Then she went on to have another relationship with another sexual offender. She purposely put her kids at risk for her own gratification. I will never understand that. IMO a man or woman a  for that matter should never be more important then the safety and well being of your children.

Then another lovely thing I dispise with these stories is the defense attorney's making the pedophile out to be something he/she isn't:

Jonathan Seely, mitigating for the male defendant, said he had served in the Armed Forces and had 26 “unblemished” years in several different fire services.

It is well known that a pedophile sexual offender, offends from 100 to 400 times before they are arrested. This man is 51 years old and he purposely sought a single mother to have access to her children. A pedophile predator doesn't just start offending at 51 years old. You can be sure there are a lot more victims/survivors out there. I am glad that the both of them are in jail. Now the mother is going to be a registered sex offender when she is released after she serves her sentence. This means that even if for some miracle she changes she won't be allowed around children period. That means her children until they are of age and any grandchildren her children may have. Poetic justice is all I have to say. I hope the children are receiving good services and are with caring people who have their best interest at heart. Rosie

It is good to see that those who try to flee the law do get caught. He paid a large price for being a fugitive 240 years. Arizona prosecutors said Steven Dyer was sentenced on 12 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of public sexual indecency.
Dyer, 44, was returned to Arizona after being arrested in February as he passed through Montreal's Trudeau airport.

Paedophile illegally set up Facebook account, Leicester Magistrates' Court told

Somehow this pedophile didn't understand when he was told that part of his prevention order was to not have a social networking site. He will be sentenced in May for breaching his order. I know there are those that will say, "So what is his crime?" "No big deal he only opened a Facebook account so he could communicate with his girlfriend." While having a Facebook account might not seem like a big deal, it is. Pedophiliac predators GROOM children on social networking sites. Unless someone with a history of acting on their attraction to children (aka pedophilia sexual abuser) gets help for their abnormal attraction. Their risk to re-offend is high. Someone with 17 previous convictions doesn't get that harming children isn't okay. He is obviously a repeat offender. So having a social networking site is dangerous for any children he would have contact with on Facebook or any other social network account. Rosie

A convicted paedophile has been back in court after illegally setting up an account on Facebook.
Sean Ellis pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of a sexual offences prevention order when he appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court this week.
The court heard that Ellis (26), of Ingle Drive, Ashby, had 17 previous convictions for a total of 42 offences dating back to 2007 when he was convicted at Derby Crown Court and imprisoned for having sex with a girl under the age of 16. In 2011, he was made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order after being convicted at Leicester Crown Court for making indecent photographs of children.

Groups clash over sex offender register

This is an interesting article from New Zealand. They don't have a national sexual offender registry. Those who oppose it are using the same arguments that those who oppose it in the UK and the United States. They make claims that after an offender serves their time if they are put on the registry they will be fugitives in their own country. They claim they will be ostracized that once they served their time that is that. I am sure that there are cases where this logic applies. Especially when their are consensual sexual relations between teens or if/when someone is falsely accused. The problem is that these happen far and few compared the number of sexual offenders. It is well known in particular that a pedophiliac sexual offender has a high rate of re-offending, especially if they are obsessively interested in children.

Articles like this make me wonder why adults push agendas where they know that the safety of children are at risk. Why is their even a question as to whether or not a pedophiliac sexual offender should be put on a registry? Is it because those who are anti-sex offender registry's are ill informed? Or is it that this opposition has backing from pedophiliac groups? I did notice that in the US their are groups who are against the sexual offender registry and those who financially support their web site are known pedophiles. The second number of people that I notice who are against the sexual offender registry are families of the offender and the offender themselves. If someone who is against the sexual offender registry would leave a comment about their knowledge of children being abused and why they wouldn't want children protected I would welcome that. One of the biggest arguments is that most sexual offenders are not on the registry so it doesn't work. The reality is sexual abuse of children and in general is widely under reported. And it is well known that pedophiliac sexual offenders offend between 100 to 400 times before they are caught. So saying that a "new" offender isn't on the registry is smoke and mirrors and is not founded in any clear logic. Rosie

I actually laughed when I read this story. This predator pedophile is actually is making the claim that if he gets extradited back to the US that his human rights will be violated. Wow! he's on the run for 17 years for harming children and then re-offends again in the UK and Ireland and he's worried about his human right's being violated. He has violated the rights of several children. Why should his human rights be more important then those of the children he abused? IMO they shouldn't. He is a criminal who has been on the lamb for 17 years. He needs to be held accountable for his behavior. I think he is more worried that if he becomes civilly committed in Minnesota that he won't have access to more children to prey on.

I am very surprised that this woman married him knowing he has harmed children. I hope he does get extradited back to the US. The children he harmed need to have their day in court. Rosie

Shawn Sullivan, 42, who is married to a Ministry of Justice policy manager, claims he is at 'high risk' of being locked up for life in a detention centre in Minnesota - which would breach his human rights.
The predator has been wanted in the U.S. since 1994 for allegedly molesting two 11-year-old girls and having unlawful sex with a girl of 14.

Finally a defense lawyer who didn't try to defend the behavior of his client. This predators lawyer made it clear that his client had confessed to the crimes and there was nothing else he needed to add. Usually there are comments like; my client won't do well in prison, or he has impeccable character/ Some of the arguments defense lawyers make on behave of these child predators makes me nauseous. I understand wholeheartedly that every person has a right to a good defense. I'm not saying that child predators don't. I am saying that making excuses for people who harm children is not something I would want to have to answer to, come judgement day.

I am glad this man is off the streets. He was only jailed for 3 years even though he had another conviction in 2006. For those who say get rid of the sexual offender registry I ask do you think this predator should have to be on the registry? He harmed children you know that right? I know I'm on a roll lately with this topic but it just doesn't seem right being against a registry that lets others know when a child sexual predator is in their neighborhood. If it makes their life hard I say THEN DON'T TOUCH LITTLE CHILDREN IN THE FIRST PLACE. Going to jail for 3 years isn't serving your time and receiving a tabula rasa. A child predator shouldn't be allowed a clean slate. When the day comes that children (who become adults)  can get a clean slate from their abuse they've suffered that's when those who harm children should get  a clean slate. As a survivor of pedophilia and someone who still deals with the effects of surviving multiple traumas I know first hand the life sentence a child gets. It makes me so mad to think there are those that think this abuse isn't any big deal. While I am not one to wallow in self-pity the reality is that the long term affects of child sexual abuse last a life time. That is something I want those who believe the registry should be outlawed to really understand. That and that most child predators abuse anywhere from 100 to 400 times before their caught and that unless they take responsibility for their actions, get treatment, and stick to their treatment they will continue to prey on children.  We always have to remember that children are our future. THE fears of concerned parents who reported a neighbour for filming children playing in their Northampton street were confirmed when police discovered the convicted paedophile had an extensive library of child sex abuse images.
Michael Lewis, aged 51, was arrested after being spotted using a camcorder to film children playing in Northampton on April 4 last year.
Officers discovered he had indeed been filming the children but also found that not only had he recently been released from prison for sexual offences against children but he also had more than 8,000 images and videos of other children being sexually abused.
James McLernon, prosecuting at Northampton Crown Court, said two computers were seized and examined and found to hold 8,700 indecent images, including 126 images and 12 videos of the second most serious kind, depicting adults sexually raping children, downloaded from the internet.
Lewis, now of no fixed address, was jailed for four years at Birmingham Crown Court in December 2006 for sexual assaults of children aged under 13 years.
Placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and still on licence following his release from prison, he was banned from accessing the internet.

This Bill Will Protect Children From Predatory Parent

I posted the link to the video of this article the other day. I think that it is an important bill. I have read stories and people have shared stories with me on a parent who is a pedophile predator getting custody of their children. A lot of times this happens due to the darkness and power involved with pedophilia rings. Having laws like this will help stop these predators from wielding the power they seem to have. This is especially important when it is a parent or family member who victimized the child. I have read that those against the sex offender registry believe that family members prefer that their be no jail time and that the matter be handled between the family. That is one of the reasons the registry is so important. Child sexual abuse is perpetrated a lot of times by family members and close family friends. For to long these issues were dealt with by the family. That is how incestuous pedophilia was allowed to flourish for so long. Getting the word out is going to help stop this. Incestuous pedophiles being found out is a good deterrent and knowing if they get caught they will end up on the registered sex offender registry is a good thing.

Those who are against this bill i.e. sites that are trying to get the sexual offender registry outlawed are up in arms over this. They are talking about how this passed 115 to 0 and will go through if they don't do some type of lobbying against. They are pretty scared because this goes against what they promote. They believe that once someone serves their time that should be that. IMO that shouldn't be that. Harming children is never okay. If a pedophile predator is on the list they should stay there. It seems like these sites don't understand that someone who is a pedophile predator doesn't just offend once they offend anywhere from 100 to 400 times before they are even caught. This type of behavior doesn't just go away. Treatment for this illness is very hard unless the person/pedophile predator is wanting to get help. This week in Canada a new web site is up and running that helps to identify pedophiles in peoples neighborhoods. stoppedophiles.ca  It is run by the Canada Family Action. If you follow the link at the end of this blog post it will take you to the comments section of the National Post on-line paper. It was interesting to read the comments. They are mostly by those who are against the sex offender registry. They say things like this is a bad thing. The person has already served their time and they and their family end up with a life sentence being on the registry. I have to laugh, yes I said laugh. These are pedophile sexual abusers who have harmed children. And they and their families are acting like what they did is no big deal. When a child gets sexually abused they end up with a life sentence. A life sentence they had nothing to do with except be the victim of a predator. Something they will struggle against their whole lives.

I do believe there are some young adults who are on the registry for consensual sexual relationships with a minor. Like a 16 year old who has a sexual relationship with a 14 or 15 year old. Not a 16 year old who had a sexual relationship with a 10 or an 11 year old. That would qualify them being a pedophile. I am really upset that those who support doing away with the registry accept money from pedophiles. There is one such site who has a prominent pedophile sexual abuser as one of its sponsors. How they justify taking money and supporting adults who harm children is beyond me. I can only say I have a clear conscience when my head hits the pillow at night. Do they? Rosie

O'Neill and Lauchlan appeal Allison McGarrigle murder conviction

This is a story where I say lock them up and throw away the key. These two disgusting human beings (aka killer pedophiles) killed a woman because she was going to tell that they were sexually abusing a child. Her body has never been found. They are both appealing their sentences because it took to long to prosecute them. They are claiming their human rights were violated. I want to throw up.

William McVicar, solicitor advocate for Lauchlan, had argued that the trial judge erred in rejecting a human rights challenge against undue delay in the prosecution.

A human rights violation! They violated people's human rights. They took a life, and they gave children a life sentence by grooming and sexually abusing them. They violated the rights of the families of their victims. These family members will also deal with the loss of the children's innocence and with the loss of the victim that was murdered. I am just astounded that they claim their rights have been violated. I hope and pray that their appeal doesn't get approved. O'Neill and Lauchlan are appealing their murder convictions

Two paedophiles who murdered a 39-year-old woman and dumped her body at sea are to challenge their convictions at the Supreme Court in London.

Charles O'Neill, 49, and William Lauchlan, 35, killed Allison McGarrigle in 1997 after she planned to report them for abusing a young boy.
After being convicted, O'Neill and Lauchlan were told to serve a minimum of 30 years and 26 years respectively.
Their appeals claim undue delay in the time it took to prosecute them.
Mrs McGarrigle met O'Neill and Lauchlan in 1994 after moving to Rothesay, Isle of Bute, following a split from her husband Robert.
She was introduced to them by the boy they went on to groom and abuse.
During a court hearing in 2010 it emerged that Mrs McGarrigle lived in fear of the men and had threatened to tell police about their abuse of the child.
She was last seen alive on 20 June 1997. Lauchlan and O'Neill are believed to have strangled her, put her body in a wheelie bin and dumped it at sea.

Alleged paedophile accused of abusing four girls

I have noticed lately that there has been a lot of arrests of pedophiles who are older. This pedophile is 73 years old and has been molesting and sexually abusing girls since 1969 that the court is aware of. He would have been 30 when he first "offended." The reality is that he probably offended prior to the age of 30. Research shows that the average pedophile offends at least 100 times before they get caught. Now this includes grooming of victims, molestation, looking at child sexual abuse media, etc. His most recent abusive behavior to a young girl (that is known) was in 2011. While he is facing 11 charges for abusing 4 children these are charges where he was caught or a victim came forward. IMO there is no way a pedophile can be "offending" for over over 43 years and only have sexually abused 4 children. There are certainly more victims of this perpetrator out there.

I think at this time in society a younger child who was abused by a pedophile will feel more comfortable coming forward. That doesn't mean they do tell because plenty still don't tell IMO because most children who were abused by a pedophile were abused by a family member or close family friend, someone who was involved in the child's life. Forty three years ago talking about being sexually abused was taboo in our culture. Research didn't know to the full extent the damage a pedophile causes his/her victims. Technology wasn't available that gave survivors/victims a change to do research or share their stories like it is available now. I hope that more of this offenders victims come forward so they can have a voice. I so hate that offenders take children's voices away and sentence them to a life sentence of dealing with the aftermath of this abuse. Rosie

An alleged paedophile accused of "flashing" at young girls and sexually abusing them appeared before a Preliminary Enquiry at Fermanagh Court earlier today (Wednesday).

The 73-year-old pensioner, with an address in Enniskillen, cannot be named because of a publicity ban imposed on the press to protect the identity of his alleged victims.
He faces a total of 11 charges of sexually abusing four children.
It is alleged that between April 12, 1969, and April 14, 1970, he committed an act "of a lewd, obscene and disgusting nature" by exposing his penis to a girl and that he also committed an act of gross indecency with her.

Paedophile Caretaker Austin Kelly Jailed For Sexually Abusing Young Boys For 30 Years

I am very glad that this pedophile is going to jail. I don't think his 13 year sentence is enough but when he is going to be 70 soon it is probable he will die in prison. His attorney had the audacity to say at his age "prison life" would be hard. I say to damn bad. For over 30 years he abused young boys. They were given a life sentence. The judge made a statement that this predator has shown no remorse for his crimes. That is one of the things I struggle with the most when dealing with the topic of pedophilia. Most pedophiles do not believe what they did was wrong. They have cognitive distortions which make them believe that a child can consent to a sexual relationship. And that children can be seducers. This pedophile went so far  to threaten suicide if the child told on him. That is the ultimate in being selfish. He traumatizes a child and then threatens to kill himself. I can't imagine what level of terror these young boys felt and how they were in a damned if you do and damned if you don't place. Living with the fear that you can make someone die for telling must have been awful. This tells us the depravity of some pedophiles. I am glad these adult men had their day in court. Liverpool Crown Court, where Austin Kelly, was sentenced

A caretaker who systematically abused numerous young boys over a 30-year period has been branded a "depraved, predatory" paedophile and jailed for 13-and-a-half years.
Austin Kelly, 69, of Staffordshire Close in Everton, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to 53 counts of indecent assault, buggery and attempted buggery against nine boys under the age of 16 between 1969 and 1997.
The court heard how Kelly, who was faced with shouts of "You are going to die" from the public gallery, would lure the children into his flat with sweets before forcing them to perform sex acts on him.

Shining a Light on Child Predators

I thought this article would be good to post here. This Dr. has done some in depth investigation into an infamous child predator and murderer. It's pretty obvious the predator she writes about was pretty sadistic. Getting into the mind of a predator must be a wholly awful thing to carry around. I hope she is able to help educate on protecting children from these predators. She delves into his childhood and discusses his life. I am hoping that this helps parents to be more aware. Thinking your child can be harmed is a pretty awful topic for parents. Myself included it makes things come to life and sometimes staying in denial feels pretty comfortable. Dr. Betty J. Kuffel, a retired internal medicine specialist at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish with experience in trauma and the emergency room, has experienced some uncomfortable things in her career. However, for Kuffel, there’s nothing quite as unsettling as spending years in the mind of a convicted child predator.

Kuffel recently released her book on the infamous Great Falls child molester, Nathaniel Bar-Jonah, titled “Eyes of a Pedophile: Detecting Child Predators.” She will host two presentations on her book, on April 17 and April 25, which will include tips on identifying pedophiles and how to keep children safe.

Bar-Jonah was arrested in 1999 in Great Falls, and eventually convicted and sentenced to 130 years in prison for kidnapping, assault and sexual assault charges. He was found guilty of molesting three young boys, and was suspected of killing and cannibalizing Zachary Ramsay, who disappeared and has never been found.

Bar-Jonah died of a blood clot in prison in 2008.

Teenage paedophile broke into school to steal gym clothing

This is another story of a young man who is a pedophile. His parents found child sexual abuse media in his room when he was 15 and told the authorities. He was found to be in possession of more child sexual abuse media in 2009 and 2010. Then he got arrested again for breaking into a school and stealing girls gym clothes. In all likelihood his behavior would have escalated to the point where his crime would lead to him physically harming a child. Hopefully it never will. I hope that he does benefit from some type of therapy. The most important thing for him is to deal with his level of denial. My understanding of sexual offenders is that they have such a high level of denial that breaking through is very hard. I hope they are able to trace the media he had to the people who made it and the children who were being abused to make it. Rosie

This is so offensive I can't even find the words to describe it. I couldn't even post the picture that went with it. You can imagine what it was of. And to top it off there are comments that support this:

So I am guessing this RSO knows what it is like to watch family die, to be starved to death, to suffer tortuously under the Nazi Regime, to loose your home and your country, or to face death because of your ethnicity. Apparently  there was a sting in Yavapai Arizona called the "Yavapai 6" in which the police were doing undercover work in chat rooms that children frequent. In one of those chat rooms, Tagged.com website came across six child sexual predators. They all talked to who they thought was a thirteen year old girl named Brenna. The discussions were sexual in nature and Brenna was pursued by these predators. They also tried to hook up with her. If this sting didn't occur and a child on Tagged.com was being pursued by these predators she would have been abused. There are those who are really mad at their convictions because they were really talking to an undercover police officer.  They weren't talking to a real child. The reality is that they thought they were talking to a thirteen  year old girl who they were pursuing in a sexual manner. The Judge in these cases has set a precedent

for future cases. I am sure we will be seeing these cases for a long time. I suspect that these defendants will all appeal their cases. I'll update stories as they come. Rosie

One of the things hoped for in a criminal sentencing is that the sentence imposed will have a deterrent impact on others pre-disposed to committing the same crime. It seldom works out that way, but certainly the prison sentence ordered Friday by Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Michael Bluff for one of the so-called "Yavapai 6" online sex predators should raise some eyebrows. Friday, Judge Bluff sentenced "Yavapai 6" defendant Samuel Bassett to 329 years in prison, of which 205.5 years will be served consecutively.

I found this story last night and thought it would be great to post it to this blog. Apparently this pedophile has been on the run for three years. His profession; teaching, gave him access to children. The scary thing is that he is probably working with children right now. He is accused making and distributing child sexual abuse media.

The FBI also said it believes he is skilled with computers and is security conscious. FBI officials said he is able to be reassuring and is capable of gaining the trust of people, making him dangerous. He might be preying on more children because child pornographers often are repeat offenders, the officials said.

IMO almost all child predators are skilled at computers. Computers are the main way most predators access children. This predators ability to gain trust of people is another skill that pedophiles have. This is usually based on his/her ability to groom children. They same skills they use to groom children is how they fool adults. There have been cases where a community just wouldn't believe that a person was a child predator because he/she seemed so nice, was very involved in their community and well liked and trusted. There are those, (usually who are pro-pedophilia or against the national sexual offense registry) who feel that this type of crime shouldn't even be a crime Their argument is usually that no one got hurt.  This is a weak argument because any time a child is sexualized it is a crime. So even videos of children on You Tube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Vidilife, etc that child predators watch, follow and make comments on is the sexualization of children. I found a site that shares videos and pictures of boys (aka a boy lover site) that has photos of a boy who died in a tornado. They are sharing a dead child's pictures. This child is being sexualized and he isn't even alive anymore. I almost threw up when I came across this. Parents need to be better educated on what really goes on, on the computer. Rosie

A suspected child pornographer has replaced the late Osama bin Laden on the FBI's most-wanted list.
Eric Justin Toth, a former third-grade teacher at the prestigious Beauvoir-National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C., is the newest addition to the list, joining people the FBI call the worst of the worst fugitives.

This is another disgusting story of a pedophile who pretended to be someone he wasn't and then preyed on numerous boys. This deviant had the ability to get young boys to make inappropriate videos of themselves and then blackmailed them into making more. When I have read other stories similar to this one the usual way that these sexual predators are able to get away with this is by posing as a girl. I can't imagine how these boys felt once they got caught in his trap. I think what this pedophile did was atrocious. He admitting that he did this to over 100 boys. I wonder where their parents were. The fact that they had the privacy to make inappropriate videos of themselves implies the computer are in a place their parents had no access to. As parents we need to do more to insure that are children are safe surfing the internet.

I hope this predator gets the book thrown at him. I am very proud of the young man who told what was happening to him. This has helped at least 100 other boys and numerous other boys this predator would have victimized. It took courage even though I am sure he was scared. Imagine the shame that goes on with this type of crime. These boys will carry these scars the rest of their lives. Not only because of being manipulated into doing this but because this predator was a cyber bully as well.

Richard Leon Finkbiner, 39, was arrested last Friday at his home in Brazil, Indiana.

(CNN) -- An Indiana man allegedly blackmailed teenaged boys into being his camera "slaves" by threatening to post their videos on gay porn websites, a criminal complaint said.

Richard Leon Finkbiner, 39, admitted during an interrogation to victimizing at least 100 people, mostly boys 14 to 16 years old, an FBI agent said in a sworn affidavit made public Monday.

"You want to play this game, or you want to be a gay porn star?" Finkbiner allegedly told one victim when he demanded that he perform sex acts during a video Skype call, the federal complaint said.

Finkbiner, arrested at his Brazil, Indiana, home last Friday, is charged with sexual exploitation of children involving two 14-year-old victims identified in Michigan and Maryland, court documents said.

NY moves to ban sex offenders from gaming websites

I like what New York is doing to try to protect children. Children play video games all of the time. Wherever children are you'll find pedophiles. They will pretend they are a child themselves. I went to a couple of different gaming sites to check out the response to this. Some of the things that are being  said is, that people ask for the ages of who they are playing against because of stirring conversation. That sometimes the players don't talk unless the ice is broken. I don't know if this is true or not I don't play on online gaming systems. I think this will shake things up with child predators. In New York registered sex offenders are required to share their email addresses. Apparently this is one of the ways they plan to get them off the online gaming sites. By requiring players to use their email address to register for the gaming systems. The following is a quote from this article:

I am glad that New York is getting the amount of support from these companies. I hope this takes off through the US and the rest of the world. NEW YORK — Registered sex offenders in New York state are being shut out of online gaming systems that have allowed them to interact with children anonymously, under an agreement announced Thursday by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
The deal applies only to sex offenders within state borders — boundaries that may not hold much weight in virtual gaming worlds where players young and old mix anonymously, conversing by voice and written message.
"Online gaming is not just a digital playground. It has the potential to be a 21st century crime scene," Schneiderman said, citing a 2008 Pew Research Center study that found that 27 percent of teenagers acknowledge playing games online with strangers. Many games require players to interact virtually with others.
The deal may be the first of its kind to focus on online gaming; Schneiderman said he was aware of no other. Such precautions are frequently taken on more traditional social networking sites such as Facebook.

I have talked about TOR in the past. It is a onion server that allows those who trade in child sexual abuse images (aka child porn) a way to stay anonymous on the internet. TOR is also known as Darknet. TOR does do good things to help those who are whistle blowers, those in countries where atrocities are occurring, among other things. The down side is that it is used by those persons aka pedophiles who are attracted to children to post inappropriate images on the Darknet. Andrew Lewman who is the executive director of TOR is well aware that there are those that post child sexual abuse images on TOR. He refuses to help law enforcement to locate those criminals because he is afraid TOR would be compromised. I am not tech savvy, but I believe there is away for Mr. Lewman to help law enforcement to detect who these criminals are. He doesn't have to compromise TOR, he doesn't have to give information about others using TOR for good, just those who are abusing children. There should be a way for TOR to recognize those who are using the Darknet to harm children and to shut them down. This just doesn't make sense to me. Why wouldn't they want to help protect children. The server is free so it isn't like he would lose money by shutting down sites that share, trade, access, or make child sexual abuse images. Is any body else with me on this? Rosie

A Walpole nonprofit company, largely funded by the federal government, is inadvertently providing child pornographers, drug dealers, and other criminals around the world with software that allows them to remain anonymous on the Internet.
The little-known organization, Tor Project Inc., says its free program is designed to help people protect themselves from Internet surveillance. Users include those speaking out against oppressive political regimes in other countries, corporate whistle-blowers, law enforcement officials, and domestic abuse victims.
But the software, which can easily be downloaded from the Tor Project website, also is attracting a growing number of people who trade illegal pornographic material and buy and sell drugs on a part of the Web known as the “darknet,’’ according to federal authorities, advocates for children, and Internet specialists. Its use for illicit purposes creates new challenges for law enforcement officials hunting increasingly technologically savvy criminals, and highlights the sometimes unwanted consequences of protecting free speech online.

The darknet is “a secret Internet,’’ said Chester Wisniewski, senior adviser at Burlington computer security company Sophos Inc. “It’s free speech to the extreme. It’s really tragic there are some sickos using this same technology for their purposes.’’
The Tor Project is widely considered the largest service in the world that allows users to navigate the Internet anonymously. Andrew Lewman, the organization’s executive director, said he is approached regularly by law enforcement officials whose investigations have been frustrated by Tor technology, which hampers authorities’ ability to identify suspected online criminals and masks the origin of child pornography and drug-dealing websites.
But Lewman said Tor Project and its software can’t be blamed for aiding crimes in the same way cellphone and computer makers should not be held accountable for the misuse of those devices. He has rejected informal requests by law enforcement agencies to create a way for them to identify Tor users, saying it would defeat the purpose of the software. But Lewman said he is willing to help investigators better understand the technology, and provides a link on the Tor website for anybody to report evidence of child pornography.
“I’m not going to compromise Tor,’’ said Lewman, who works out of a small storefront office on Main Street in Walpole. “ ‘Good’ is so relative around the world. I bet the Egyptian government didn’t think their activists were good.’

Father jailed for pornography made with own children-Incestuous pedophilia

Incestuous pedophilia, more common then we know. I feel so bad for these children. They were not only incestuously abused by their father but by there mother as well. What a heavy burden they will have to carry the rest of their lives. What the hell prompts these deviants? It seems money as well as their depraved desires was most likely the reason. These children's abuse was aired over the internet like a side show. This father was very callous about his abuse of his children. This mother, rather than protecting her children made the choice to be one of their abusers. How could a mother do this to her children? How could she make money off of the suffering of her children? What would posses her? My theory is pedophiles are made.

This topic is very close to home for me.I know first hand what it is like to come from a family with incestuous pedophilia. Ruth (the woman who gave me birth) and her father were my perpetrators. When I was 3 or 4 I remember Ruth teaching my brothers and I how to touch each other inappropriately. She would just watch what we were doing. I can remembering her guiding our hands. Can you imagine a mother (I use that word very loosely) teaching her children how to touch each other in a sexual way? Guiding them to do this? Can you imagine what was going through the minds of these children? This went on until I was almost 9 years old. I finally refused to play along with her games anymore. She had a game where we would go in her bed and she would massage us. There were always at least two or three of us in the bed with her.  I remember these massages feeling very uncomfortable. I remember getting up off of the bed and leaving the room. She was very upset and asked me why I was leaving. I told her that I wasn't going to take part of her massages anymore. This infuriated her. This refusal to partake in her deviant game lead to years of her physically, psychologically, spirituality, ritualistically abusing me until I was 18 years old and got the courage to leave home.

These scars are still with me. I am much better at dealing with them. I am not so afraid of the memories anymore. I am very thankful that I didn't carry on a tradition on Ruth's side of the family that I traced back four generations. Four generations that I could go back. I suspect that it went back many more generations. I was lucky that I did research before Ruth's siblings and cousins died. One of the things that I take pride of in my life is that I didn't repeat the cycle. I am grateful my children didn't experience what I experienced. What would posses an 8 year old child to stop her (I just can't type the word) female parent from sexually abusing her? All I can say is by the Grace of God. Somehow I had the fortitude to stop this. It wasn't until later in my life that I was able to put the puzzle pieces together and realize that the horrific abuse I suffered after that was all related to Ruth's wanting to keep me quiet. She was afraid I would let the secret out. She was right. Please pray for these children. They have a long road ahead of them. I pray they get the help they not only need but deserve. Rosie

A New South Wales District Court Judge says the actions of a Central Coast man, who sexually abused his own children, 'shows an unfathomable level of depravity.'

The 51 year old man, his 30 year old wife and another 43 year old man were arrested in November 2010 and later pleaded guilty to a string of charges relating to the systematic sexual abuse of the couple's children, aged 11 and 12.
The father was sentenced to a maximum 21 years in jail with a 15 year non-parole period in Gosford District Court today.
The trio dominated an international paedophile ring, which involved parents across Australia, as well as in the United Kingdom, United States, the Netherlands, France and Germany.
The network carried out depraved sex acts on their children, which included the use of drugs, animals and threats of violence.

This is a very good article. It would be great to find these statistics in the US and all over the world. Good for the NSPCC for doing this research and making it public. The reality is the number of children being sexually abused is much higher then that. Most child sexual abuse (aka incestuous pedophilia) occurs in families. In my experience the family system protects itself so the secret doesn't get out. We're still a long way from helping children to know how to get help. Rosie

One child sex attack was reported every 20 minutes last year, equivalent to 444 attacks a week, according to shocking police figures released today.
About 23,000 children were reported victims in England and Wales during 2010/11 but fewer than 10 per cent of cases ended in a conviction.

This is a very terrible story from Germany a child died because of police inaction. Last year both the mother and step-father turned this young pedophile in and the police took no action.  His parents even got him into a therapy for his pedophilia. He went to the police with his therapist to report on himself. The police inaction cost an 11 year old girl her life.What I find interesting is that they share the victims name but not the pedophile killers name. I have done some research and can't find his name.

I can't imagine what the little girls family is going through. Especially with learning that the police could have prevented her death. I can't imagine how the pedophiles parents are coping knowing they tried their best to get their son help and he ended up killing a child. That took a lot of courage for them to turn their child in. I applaud them for their efforts. I don't know how much more they could have done short of locking him up in his room. 'Child killer' told cops he was paedophile

The young man accused of sexually abusing and killing a young girl in northern Germany turned himself in to police four months ago for undressing and photographing a seven-year-old girl – but nothing was done.

The 18-year-old man visited police in the small northern town of Emden with his psychologist back in November 2011 to report himself. His stepfather had reported him to the police two months earlier for possession of child pornography.

His mother had discovered him as he took photos of the young girl, and he then spent two months in psychological treatment.

According to court documents, Branco would allegedly stick his hands in her pants and would wrestle and "roughhouse" with her.

I can't imagine what his estranged wife went through when she realized what he had done. When these sexual offenders abuse children they affect a whole family system. The girl who he molested has had to live with this for years. It's possible that if his estranged wife didn't find this video he would have gotten away with this. Apparently the girl didn't come forward when the molestation was happening. Most likely because he threatened her or because she was ashamed by what he did. He is another first time sexual offender who was arrested that more then likely has been abusing children for years. The system is backwards and needs to be changed. We need a system that is preventive not reactionary after the fact. He apparently held jobs of authority which more than likely gave him the belief that he would get away with this. I am glad he got caught, I hope his family is getting good support. Most of all I hope that the girl he molested (who is now a grown woman) gets help for what she has survived. Rosie

FALL RIVER — A campus police officer at Bristol Community College's Fall River campus was arraigned Monday on charges he secretly video recorded a female relative using the bathroom at his Westport home.

Christopher Branco, 43, is charged with possession of child pornography for allegedly video recording the female in April 2000.

The offense is a felony, according to Westport Detective Jeffrey Majewski, and the maximum penalty is a five-year state prison sentence.

According to court documents, Branco and his wife are estranged and she found the 8-millimeter cassette tape in a household safe and gave it to police. There were also naked photos and many pairs of women's underwear in the safe.
